When the Port of Oakland holds a community appreciation event, the community comes out by the hundreds of thousands. PortFest is an annual celebration that allows the Port of Oakland to not only showcase what they do, but also to show their appreciation for the community. As the major commercial port in Northern California, responsible for boats, trains and planes, the Port of Oakland and its employees are a big part of the area�s commerce and community. Giving back is also important: the event provides a forum for the Port to give $20,000 in donations to deserving non-profit organizations in the area, all of whom are exhibitors at the event as well.
