Description
Despite its name, the Brazil nut is technically a seed that comes mainly from Bolivia. Nearly 50% of Brazil nuts come from Bolivia, 40% from Brazil, and 10% from Peru. It grows in the wild in the Amazon rainforest, plus along the Rio Negro and the Oronoco. The nuts are also harvested in the wild, rather than on plantations. Nutritionally, it is high in protein (18%) and fat (69%) and, in fact, its saturated fact is actually higher than the macadamia nut.
